East Meets West:

The Starlight Torch Foundation of Beijing, China welcomed the U.S. delegation of The Torch Foundation in early 2007.  The trip was entirely funded by the Chinese organization, which hosted a training for 43 students, multiple volunteers and staff, as well as Chinese trainers-in-training.  The program was well received by the students and parents alike and the impact of the initial training further evidences that the heart and human spirit is not contained by borders, beliefs or ideologies.

Cultural differences were not present as the same trainings that U.S. students have long been fortunate to receive and participate in was unchanged and Chinese students chose to "do whatever it takes" just like their American counterparts.

Torch now has the first of it's sister-cities in Beijing.

North meets South:

In late 2007, The Torch Foundation traveled to Oregon for the inaugural Torch Training held near Portland.  The students present responded phenomenally and were able to access additional processes and create huge breakthroughs.

Though the turnout was less than anticipated, the home team hosted tremendously and the Staff and Volunteers were the epitome of giving.  True to form of commitment, one Torch trainer continued to contribute unconditionally despite news of being personally impacted by the wildfires affecting his home and family in Southern California.

Torch now has the second of it's sister-cities in Oregon.  May many more follow.
